Emilio Gerena

Emilio Gerena is a Puerto Rican actor, writer, director, and producer. Born and raised in Puerto Rico to Emilio Gerena, a biologist, and Melissa González, a chemist. Emilio first discovered acting when constantly visiting his local movie theater just a minute away from his childhood home, but didn’t dare to act until stepping foot in the University of Puerto Rico -Río Piedras Campus.  Having been bitten not just by the acting bug but the filmmaking bug as well,  he studied both acting and filmmaking where he excelled in multiple short films and theater plays. Most recently, in 2023, Emilio won Best New Actor at the Victoria Espinosa Award for “Culpable Inocente”,  a play which he co wrote, produced, and starred in. In 2023 Emilio launched, with his best friend, a production company called Red Car Pictures with focus on creating their own original projects.
